Brighid and Me - Experiences with the Goddess, Edited by Hollee Swann

Early in 2010 a call went out from Helen Roberts of Goddess Dance for people's experiences and stories of Brighid, Celtic Goddess, Christian Saint and Faery Queen. Many people responded to this request and the resulting booklet of their experiences is now available.

Brighid is known by many names, Brigantia, Brigid, Ffraid and Bride to name just a few and throughout the centuries she has been revered and touched many lives, including my own. Some of you will have noticed the small and subtle references to Ffraid present in Celtic Maidens. There is no doubt in my mind that Brighid helped inspire the book and gave me the skills and inclination to write it. As Patroness of Poets, Smiths and Healers, Brighid is my muse in many ways and She wields both carrot and stick!

When I heard of Helen's project, I contributed a piece on my experiences with Brighid and a rather lovely image of the Trearddur Bay Cross on Holy Island off Anglesey which shows a Pagan Sunwheel within a Celtic style Christian Cross. I am honoured to say that not only was my piece added into the booklet but my photograph graces the cover.

The booklet is full of beautiful pieces, written from the heart by both men and women of different backgrounds and faiths. Each is poignant, powerful and personal. If Brighid has touched your life in any way, or you are interested in learning more about Brighid then it is well worth a read.

Brighid and Me - Experiences with the Goddess, Edited by Hollee Swann is available from www.goddessdance.co.uk for £4.50
